Minnie Lee Bates Traynham, 99, of Crystal Hill, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017. She was born in Halifax County on July 12, 1918, a daughter of the late Jack Bates and Bessie Lee Jones Bates. She was married to the late Elrex Traynham and was a member of Crystal Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Traynham is survived by seven sons, Warner Traynham, Larry Traynham, Elrex L. Traynham (Judy), Ralph Traynham, all of Halifax, Truman Traynham (Joyce) of Brooklyn, N.Y., Bobby Traynham (Brenda) and Benny Traynham, all of Petersburg; four daughters, Geraldine Hamlett, Gail Traynham, both of Washington, DC, Lois Stovall of Wilmington, Del., Joan O. Adams of Upper Marlboro, Md., numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary, Annie and Arlene and two brothers, James and Coleman.

A funeral will be held Wednesday, Dec. 6 at noon at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Crystal Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Public viewing will be Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at 3240 Crystal Hill Road, Crystal Hill.
