Morton Randolph Ferrell of Halifax died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017. He was born in Halifax County on Aug. 11, 1926 and was 91 years of age. He was the son of the late Jesse B. Ferrell and the late Iola Lewis Ferrell. He was married to Laura B. Ferrell who survives. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Linda Brown and husband Ricky of Halifax and Wanda Busick Murray and husband Allen of Cluster Springs, three grandchildren, Ritchie Brown and wife Stephanie of Halifax, Lawanna Tetterton and husband Bill of South Boston and Trina Murray Morris of South Boston; great grandchildren, Hollie Brown of Halifax, Kayla Jarosz and husband Andrew of Midlothian, Kelsey Baker of South Boston and Collin Morris of Virgilina and great great grandchildren, Addy and Jace Jarosz and two sisters, Catherine McDowell of Halifax and Ellen Elliott of South Boston.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Mildred Ferrell, Louise Epps, Myrtle Moore, and Edith Boyd and brothers, Elmer Ferrell, Clarence Ferrell, Owen Ferrell, Lonnie Ferrell and L.C. Ferrell.

Graveside services were held Saturday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Christian Church with the Rev. Garnett Short officiating.

The family received friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall and at other times at his home, 7007 Mountain Road, Halifax, VA 24558.
