Nannie Odessa Murphy Link

Nannie Odessa Murphy Link, 86, of Carrington Trail, Alton, died on Monday, Dec. 4, 2017 at Woodview Nursing Home. She was born in Halifax County on April 15, 1931, a daughter of the late Willie Murphy and Virginia Lawson Murphy. She was married to Henry Eugene Link and was a member of Mayo Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Link is survived by three sons, Michael Link and David Link, both of Alton, and Barry Link (Tracey) of Durham, N.C., two daughters, Bonnie Carrington of Alton and Deloris Green (Robert) of South Boston; 12 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy (Jesse) of Maryland and Annie Mae Murphy of Petersburg; two brothers, Lee Murphy and Thomas Murphy, both of South Boston; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one son, Willie Link Jr., one grandson, Bernard Carrington Jr., two sisters, Susie Chappell and Mildred Newman and one brother, Stephen Murphy.

A funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 8 at 1 p.m. at Mayo Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Vaxaeadrene Allen officiating.

Public viewing will be Thursday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the service on Friday.
