Obituaries Ned Junior GaylesSoVaNow.com / July 27, 2010
Mr. Gayles was born in Charlotte County, Jan. 27, 1936 to the late Ned and Mary Rawlings Gayles. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, and was a member of Bluestone Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir. He also sang with the Golden Jubilees. Ned was a former employee of Spaulding Lumber Company and was a funeral service attendant with Giles-Harris Funeral Home. In addition to his parents, Ned was preceded in death by one son, Richard E. Gayles and one brother, John Henry Gayles. Cherishing his memories are his devoted wife of 53 years, Eva S. Gayles of Chase City; one son, Ronnie M. Gayles (Karen) of Chase City; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild; one sister, Virginia Dailey (Milton) of Saxe, VA; daughter-in-law, Pamela Gayles of South Boston; eight sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A funeral Mr. Gayles was conducted 1 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Bluestone Baptist Church, Chase City, with Rev. Lawrence T. Wilkerson, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends Saturday evening from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City.
