Nora Childs Brandon, 79, of South Boston, died on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021. She was born in Halifax County on April 30, 1942, daughter of the late Herbert Henry Childs and Elizabeth Graves Childs. She was married to the late Otis Rudolph Brandon, Sr.

Ms. Brandon is survived by five children, Willie Lenora Conner, Otis Brandon Jr., John Brandon, James Brandon and Phillip Brandon; 17 grandchildren; three sisters, Ada Lee Hamlett, Zelma Marie McGhee Hamlett and Willie Ann Hamlett; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jariah Brandon, one grandson, James Brandon Jr. and two brothers, Willie Walton Childs and Jessie Childs.

A funeral was held Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home with Rev. Nelson Stamps, eulogist. Burial followed in New Arbor Baptist Church Cemetery.

Public viewing was held Tuesday, Sept. 21 from 2-6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
