Murder suspect in Halifax County turns himself in

Norma Coleman Pool, 82, of 2163 Alphonse Dairy Road, South Boston died Friday, Feb. 25, 2011 at her home. She was born Feb. 22, 1929 in Pikeville, Ky., a daughter of Clarence Coleman and Celia Branham Coleman and was married to the late Fred Pool Sr. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and retired from Leggett’s Department Store.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Nita and Charles Payne of Halifax, Rose “Tye” and Jim Pillion and Rene and Randy Dixon, all of South Boston; sons and daughters-in-law, Freddie and Marlyn Pool of Alton, Robert Pool, and Tommy and Tammy Pool, all of South Boston, and Richard and Chasity Pool of Halifax; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Wade Coleman, a sister, Flo Coleman Pool and one grandson, Chuck Payne.

Private graveside services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Jeaux Simmons officiating.
