Oabe “Pete” Lee Loftis, 73, of South Boston, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2018. He was born in Halifax County on Feb. 18, 1945, a son of the late Addie Smith Bumpass. He was married to Frances Conner Loftis, who survives, was a member of Bethel Hill Baptist Church and he retired from Louisa Pacific.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Loftis is survived by his children, Linda Loftis Allgood and special friend Greg Hazelwood, Christopher Alan Loftis and Erica, Jason Thomas Loftis and Kristi, Andrew Lee Loftis and Emily Freitas; grandchildren, Randy Snead and Jordon Wilborne, Erica Allgood, Deonna Loftis and Kody Shelton, Dakota Loftis and Jasmine Ward, Kiley Lawhorn, Kamra White, Kylie White, Dylan Ahearn, Kayla Francis; great-grandchild, Emalee Snead and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Loftis, siblings Betty Long, Bessie Clay and John Loftis.

Graveside services will be held Friday, Sept, 7, at 2 p.m. at Bethel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Robbie Dunn officiating. The family requests casual dress for the service.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Sept. 6 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and at other times at 1065 Boyd’s Ferry Trail, South Boston.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of your choice.
