Peter Daniel Hudgins

Peter Daniel Hudgins, 96, formerly of South Boston, died Dec. 23, 2010 in Raleigh, N.C. He was born in Halifax County on Dec. 5, 1915, son of the late Oscar Daniel Hudgins and Virgie Yarborough Hudgins. He was married to Rachel Burgess Hudgins, a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and was a retired tobacconist with Liggett and Myers.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Loretta H. Johnson and husband Doug of Raleigh, N.C., one son, Dan Hudgins and wife Ruth of Cary, N.C., grandchildren, Scott Iekel-Johnson and wife Sue, Ann Johnson Travis and husband Rob and Ryan, Eric and Kirk Hudgins; great-grandchildren, Quinn and Jacob Travis, Alex and Jessie Iekel-Johnson.

A funeral will be held Wednesday, Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. at Main Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Ed Rigg officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
