Phillip Andrew Claiborne / March 08, 2018

Phillip Andrew Claiborne of Virginia Beach and formerly of Halifax County died on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Sentara Princess Ann Hospital at the age of 44.

Mr. Claiborne was born March 11, 1973 in Halifax County to Henry Lloyd Claiborne and Alice Ferrell Claiborne and joined St. James Baptist Church at an early age.

Mr. Claiborne is survived by his children, Mandell, DaShawn, Lashawn, Shalae, Essence and Jayden; his parents, Henry and Alice Claiborne; three brothers, Derek Claiborne (Kristy), Michael Claiborne and JaQuan Claiborne; his grandmother, Catherine Ferrell and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by two children, Chance and Faith.

A funeral will be held Saturday, March 10 at 11 a.m. at St. James Baptist Church with Rev. Byrd B. Blackwell officiating and Rev. Ronald Claiborne, Eulogist. Burial will follow in church cemetery.

Public viewing for family and friends will be on Friday, March 9 from 10 a.m.-8:00 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at 1103 Green Level Road, Scottsburg.

Funeral arrangements are by Jeffress Funeral Home.
