Robert Earl Childress Jr.

On Jan. 3, 2013, the angels came down and took our beloved Robert Earl Childress Jr. to heaven. Robert was born in Halifax County to the late Catherine and Robert Earl Childress Sr. on Sept. 22, 1949. He was married to the former Carolyn Vass for 42 years and to this union five children were born — four sons, Dion (Stephanie) of Redford, Mich., Shaan and Robert of Detroit, Mich., and DeWaan (Tanya) of Redlands, Calif., and one daughter, Marquita of Virginia Beach. He is survived by his wife and children, five grandchildren, two great-grands, his sister, Ellen King of Augusta, Ga., his mother-in-law, Arnita Vass of South Boston, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ronald.

A funeral will be held Friday, Jan. 11 at noon at Mt. Pleasant CME Church, 7184 Mountain Road, Halifax with the Rev. Evon Bush officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends at 2158 Mountain Road, Halifax.
