Robert Lee Womack

Robert Lee “Bob” Womack, 64, of Pine Height Trail, Halifax, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born in Halifax County on May 9, 1955, son of Onzie O. Womack and the late Mary Edmonds Womack. He was married to Mary Chandler Womack, was a United States Army Veteran and was a former employee of ABB.

Mr. Womack is survived by his wife, Mary Chandler Womack of the home; two sons, Justin Womack of the home and Travis Barksdale of South Boston; two daughters, Kimberly Coleman of South Boston and Yhetta Fitzgerald of Fayetteville, N.C.; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild; his father, Onzie Womack of Vernon Hill; two sisters, Emma Sutphin of Newport News and Grindle Martin (Charles) of Halifax; three brothers, Onzie Womack Jr. of Vernon Hill, John Womack and James Womack (Barbara), all of South Boston; two sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including the devoted Watt “Skeet” Womack and Noah Shaheed.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Alice M. Womack and one brother, Glen O. Womack.

A funeral will be Friday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. at New Mt. Olive Apostolic Church with Leonia Palmer, pastor, and William Howerton, eulogist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Rites by American Legion Post 99.

Public viewing will be Thursday, Feb. 6 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home and the family will receive friends at 1120 Pine Height Trail, Halifax.
