Robert Louis Johnson, 78, of Cherry Hill Church Road, Cluster Springs died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017 at VA Medical Center in Durham, N.C.

He was born Aug. 20, 1939 in Halifax County, a son of the late James Robert Johnson and Willie Owen Johnson and was married to Joan Miller Johnson. He was a member of Mayo Grove Baptist Church, a retired employee of Collins and Aikman, Inc., Roxboro, NC and was a United States Army veteran.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Johnson is survived by one daughter, Sandra Johnson of South Boston; one son, Rodney Johnson and wife Patrice of Jacksonville, N.C.; six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; one sister, Janifer Johnson of Virgilina, other relatives and friends.

One daughter, Joan Annetta Johnson, one sister, Patricia Jeffress and one brother, Oscar Johnson, preceded him in death.

A funeral was held Sunday, Sept. 3 at 3 p.m. at Owens Grove Baptist Church with Rev. V. Allen officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 99.

The family received friends at 1130 Cherry Hill Church Road, Cluster Springs.
