Ronald William Fitch, 65, of South Boston, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017. He was born in Campbell County on Feb. 1, 1952, son of the late William Garthwright Fitch and the late Helen Jean Franklin and was married to Michele Marko Fitch.

He was a member of Halifax United Methodist Church and a mentor for many people of all ages needing guidance, a listening ear, and a kind heart. He was a maintenance mechanic at Gloster Furniture.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Fitch is survived by three daughters, Melanie Reddick Jones and husband Rick of Huntingburg, Ind., Meagan Fitch Smith and husband Jimmie and Kathryn Lynn Fitch, all of South Boston; four grandchildren, Ryley Jones, Kolby Jones, Elena Smith and Ivy Smith; a step-granddaughter, Leanna Vinson and husband Brandon, a step-great-grandson, Garrett Vinson; two sisters, Betty Sue O’Bryant and husband Richard and Deborah Jean Rodrigue and husband Billy, all of Moneta and in-laws, Robert and Sylvia Marko and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lori Lynn Fitch and a brother, Richard Wayne Fitch.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. at Halifax United Methodist Church with the Rev. Thad Decker officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Nov. 30 from 6-8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at his home, 2103 Wilkerson Street, South Boston.

Burial will be Saturday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m. at the Fitch Family Cemetery, 216 Fitch Haven Drive, Concord.
