Rosetta Harris Day

Rosetta Harris Day died Tuesday Nov. 7, 2017 at the home of her son George Guthrie. She was born in Mecklenburg County on Jan. 10,1924 to the late Tommy and Edna Garner. Rosetta was educated in the Mecklenburg County, Public School System. She was a kind, hardworking and a good southern cook.

Her hobbies were cooking, flowers and working in the yard. At an early age she joined Cherry Hill Baptist Church. She relocated to Arlington. and joined Macedonia Baptist Church. She married Willie Day who preceded her in death. Rosetta relocated back home in the 1990’s and joined New Liberty Baptist Church where she remained until her demise.

Rosetta is survived by her children: George W. Guthrie Sr. (Rosetta), Clyde Harris, Roy Garner (Toni), sisters Julia Simmons, Ruther Garner, 37 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 45 great-great grandchildren and a host of the other family and friends.

A graveside service was held Saturday Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. in the New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation for all acts of kindness and gestures of the love rendered during our time of loss. The comfort you gave will remain a precious memory.

Carter’s Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
