Roy Lee Barksdale, 84, of Gordonsville, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018. Born in Halifax County on May 10, 1934, he was the son of the late Henry Thomas Barksdale and the late Martha Moore Barksdale.

He was raised here in Halifax County and was of the Methodist faith and was self -employed as a car salesman.

Mr. Barksdale is survived by a brother, Owen Barksdale and wife Nell of Alton; special friend, Betty Coates of Gordonsville and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Jesse, Winston and William Barksdale.

Graveside services were held Sunday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bonnie Pizzeck officiating.

The family received friends at home of his brother, Owen and Nell Barksdale, 2243 Cedar Grove Road, Alton.
