Ruby Elizabeth Manning, 83, wife of the late Edward Manning, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020. She was born in Halifax County on Aug. 27, 1937, to the late George Elwood and Lessie Elizabeth Morris Wilborn. Ruby worked as a caretaker in Virginia, Florida and New York. She lived life to the fullest, enjoying going out, dancing and being at the beach. She was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church.

Ruby is survived by her daughter, Stacey Raymond; grandchildren, Crystal Harmon (Jeremy), Renae Summers (Joey), Erica Raymond, Joshua Satterfield, Heather Byrd, Terry Byrd Jr. and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings, Mattie Thrower (Wayne), Elsie Reaves (Allen), Rachel Walker, William “Billy” Wilborn (Brenda), Jimmy Wilborn (Sharon) and George Wilborn Jr. (Ruth).

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Clara Thaxton, nephew, Neal Thrower and her uncle, Berkley.

A funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 21 at noon in the chapel at Brooks Lyon Funeral home. Burial will follow in Glenwood UMC cemetery.
