Ruth Dale Lester Cooper

Ruth Dale Lester Cooper, 77, of Halifax died Monday, June 3, 2019. She was born in Java on July 6, 1941, daughter of the late Walter Aubrey Lester, Sr. and the late Virginia Wyatt Lester and was married to the late Charles Chrysler Cooper Sr. for 55 years. She was a retired school teacher.

Survivors include a son, Charles Chrysler Cooper Jr. and wife Pam of Castalia, N.C.; daughter, Sandra C. Bane and her husband Charles of Halifax; brother, Aubrey Lester of Salem; grandchildren, Christopher Cooper of Castalia, N.C., Charlsie Vanderpoel and her husband Brent of Louisburg, N.C., Emily Bane of Scottsburg, and Casey Daniel of Kearney, Neb.; and great grandchildren, Hannah Grace Cooper, Christopher Cooper, Gracey Cooper, Braxton Vanderpoel, Bryce Vanderpoel and Cameron Murphy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a sister, Delores Hogan.

A funeral will be held Thursday, June 6, at 2 p.m. at Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home one hour prior to service on Thursday and other times at her home.
