Sally Ann Stovall Hamlett, 78, died Friday, June 30, 2017. She was a resident of Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Danville. Mrs. Hamlett was born July 4, 1938 in Halifax County to the late Murry Link and Rose Cunningham Stovall and at an early age accepted Christ and joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Sally is survived by seven children: John Jordan of Brooklyn, N.Y., Samuel Jordan of South Boston, Frances Jordan and Joanne Jordan, both of Nathalie, Shirley Clardy and husband Mark of Danville, Mary Jordan of Charlotte, N.C., and Cindy Henderson and husband Jon of Callands, nineteen grandchildren including the devoted Taneisa Jordan whom she raised as a daughter and Aubrey Jordan; thirty-seven great grandchildren; sixteen great-great grandchildren; four brothers, William Stovall of Philadelphia, John and Raymond Stovall of Alton and James Stovall of Nathalie; three sisters, Josephine and Lelia Stovall of Alton and Gladys Stovall of South Boston; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends including her devoted caretaker, Sharon Rodgers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Hamlett, three brothers, Junior Stovall, Ernest Stovall and Joseph Stovall and one sister, Rose Stovall Reid.

A funeral will be held Wednesday, July 5 at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Elton Medley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Monday, July 3 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, 12165 Callands Road, Callands, Va. and at the home of her sister, 2212 Alton Post Office Road, Alton.

Funeral arrangements are by Jeffress Funeral Home.
