Samuel William Helton Jr., 58, of South Boston, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017. He was born in Halifax County on March 24, 1959, a son of Samuel William Helton, Sr. and mother Ruby Nancy Stomp Helton. He was married to Mary Carolyn Price Helton and was a member of Trinity Congregational Holiness Church.

Mr. Helton is survived by his wife, Mary Carolyn Price Helton; one son, Steven W. Helton of Halifax; one grandson, Steven W. Helton Jr. of Halifax; his father, Samuel W. Helton Sr. of Alton; his mother, Nancy Helton, step-father, Bobby M. Helton; siblings, Tommy Helton of Halifax, Michael Helton of Richmond, Debra Thornton of Florida, Lois Wilmouth of Halifax, Susie Helton of Ringgold, Kimberly Helton of Bassett, Kenneth Helton of Gretna, Kevin Helton of Danville, Karen Helton of Danville, Kathy Helton of Florida and Sherrie Helton of Florida.

He was preceded in death by one sibling, Kyle W. Helton; paternal grandmother, Corine Wiles, maternal grandmother, India Stump and Melvin Stump and Ernest B. Helton.

Funeral was held Saturday, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Bryant officiating. Burial followed in Oak Level Presbyterian Church with Military Rites.
