Shevery “Deana” Hazelwood Conner, 78, of Alton, died Wednesday, March 6, 2019. She was born in Halifax County on May 7, 1940, daughter of the late Tom Owen Hazelwood and the late Sarah Tuck King. She was married to the late John S. Conner and attended New Covent Worship Center.

Ms. Conner is survived by her children, Ann H. Martin, Gina H. Holbrook, J. Michael Hazelwood and Sara “Liz” Hazelwood and Mary; grandchildren, David Martin (Christen), Maranda Martin-Walker (Doug), Ricky Martin, Jr., Stephanie Crews (Harold), Leslie Carson, Misty Holbrook, Michael Holbrook (Kalinda), Dwayne Hazelwood, Jessica High (Henry), Josh Phelps, Tiffany Towler (Landon), Kathy Brittingham, Crystal Peatross (Andy), Miracle Brittingham, Robin Sams and Chris Borst; 31 great-grandchildren; siblings, Walter Bobby Hazelwood (Eugenia), George King, Ricky Hazelwood, John Hazelwood, Polly H. Dyer (Billy), Carrie H. Sadler (Holt), Cindy H. Burton; host of nieces and nephews; step-mother, Betty Handler.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Daniel and siblings Tom Hazelwood, Elaine Hazelwood and Ellalorine Hazelwood.

Graveside services were held Sunday, March 10, at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Mennonite Church Cemetery with Steve Dyer officiating. The family received friends Saturday, March 9 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home.
