Shirley Mae Carr

Shirley Mae Carr, 69, of Vernon Hill, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2019 at her home. She was born in Nathalie on Jan. 22, 1950, daughter of Clarine Farmer Marable and the late William “Inzy” Marable. She was married to Robert E. Carr and was a member of Traynham Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Carr is survived by her husband, Robert E. Carr of the home; three children, Robert L. Carr (Qamar), Timothy Carr and Tamika West (Sandy); five grandchildren, one great-grandson; her mother, Clarine Farmer Marable; two brothers, Darnell “Larry” Marable (Lois) and Dennis Marable (Joan); three sisters, Barbara Dunkley (Lewis), Carolyn Monroe (Robert) and Debra Carr (James); two uncles and a host of other relatives and friends.

One son, Rodney Lee Carr, one brother, Lawrence Edmonds and grandfather, Silas Farmer, preceded her in death.

A funeral will be held Friday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m. at Traynham Grove Baptist Church with Rev. William Keen officiating and William Nowell as eulogist. Burial will follow at Sunflower Baptist Church cemetery.

Public viewing will be Thursday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 3247 Ridge Road, Vernon Hill.
