Stephen Earl Garner, 49, of Skipwith, died Dec. 31, 2012.

He was retired from R. O. Harrell Trucking, Inc. and a member of New Life Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Garner and his stepfather, Cohen Johnson. Stevie lived life to the fullest and was most happy riding his Harley-Davidson.

He is survived by his fiancée, Sharon Elliott, mother, Barbara Johnson of Skipwith, son, Jason Garner of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., sister, Debbie Gosney of LaCrosse, brothers, Joey Johnson of Radford, Dickie Johnson of Sandston, Mike Johnson of Chase City, step daughter, Destiny Cohen of Roanoke Rapids.  

Services were held Sunday at New Hope Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mecklenburg County Cancer Association, PO Box 383, South Hill, VA 23970.

Wood Funeral Service, Chase City, is serving the family.
