Steve Vandie Saunders

Steve Vandie Saunders, 62, of 5124 Huell Matthews Highway, South Boston died Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born in Halifax County on Nov. 4, 1947, a son of the late Cecil Henry Saunders and Margaret Reaves Saunders. He was a member of McCanless United Methodist Church, an honorary member of South Boston Fire Company and the financial advisor for Cluster Springs Volunteer Fire Department. He was a retired Finance Director for the Town of South Boston.

He is survived by one sister, Donna S. Ingram of Halifax; two brothers, Marshall S. “Buck” Saunders of South Boston and Cecil Dudley Saunders of Chesterfield; and a special friend, Pat Riley, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Wickham officiating. Burial followed in the Halifax Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be directed to Halifax County Humane Society, P.O. Box 969, South Boston, VA 4592.
