Sylvia Thomas Toler, 83, of Front Royal, formerly of Halifax County, died May 9, 2011 at Winchester Medical Center. She was born April 3, 1928 in Halifax County, daughter of the late Ulysses Thomas and Bessie Satterfield Thomas Francisco. She was married to the late Jefferson U. Toler and was a member of South Boston Seventh Day Adventist Church.

She is survived by four sons, Dennis Toler of Richmond, Dane Toler and partner Lee Ruddle of Front Royal, Gary Toler and wife Dana of Concord, NC and Jefferson U. Toler, Jr. of Charlotte, N.C., three grandchildren, one great-grandchild; three sisters, Mary “Lib” Chandler and Hortense “Alma” Meadows, both of South Boston and Joyce Francisco of Richmond.

Graveside services will be held Friday, May 13 at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Rev. Daniel Royo officiating. The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home.
