Thelma Whitt Puckette

Thelma Whitt Puckette of South Boston died Friday, March 18, 2011 at The Woodview. Born in Halifax County on June 13, 1923, she was 87 at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Cornelius Samuel Whitt and Mary Ida Watts Whitt and was married to the late Charles Caville Puckette. She was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Puckette is survived by two daughters, Nellwyn P. Nelson of Buffalo Junction and Janice P. Cloud and husband, Johnny of Jackson, N.J., six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Clifford Santos Whitt of Fairfield, Calif. and a sister, Rosemond Whitt Walker.

A funeral for Mrs. Puckette will be held at Powell Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, March 22 at 11 a.m. with Pastor George Gorman officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home Monday from 7 until 8:30 p.m.
