Vanvassel Overbey Terry “Van”, 89, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021. She was born in Charlotte County on April 11, 1932, daughter of the late Daniel Overbey and Harriett Anna Thomas Overbey. She was married the late Harvey C. Terry Sr. and was a member of St. Paul C.M.E. Church.

Ms. Terry is survived by two daughters, Belva T. Owen of South Boston and Christine Terry-Warren of Fort Washington, Md., three sons, Harvey C. Terry and S. Donnell Terry, both of Halifax, and Richard Terry of Capitol Heights, Md., two grandchildren she raised, Jermaine Terry and Shavone “Nikki” Terry; three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, five sisters and one great-grandson, Ontario Epperson.

A funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Terry officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul C.M.E. Church cemetery.

Public viewing will be Friday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. A face mask and social distancing will be required.
