Vida Irby Perkins

Vida Irby Perkins of 1078 Chatham Road, Halifax died Saturday, April 24, 2010 at The Woodview. Born in Halifax County on Dec. 2, 1933, she was 76 at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Adolphus M. Irby and Dolly Clay Irby and was a member of the Mulberry Baptist Church.

Mrs. Perkins is survived by a daughter Linda P. Thomasson of Danville, a son, Thurman (Perk) Perkins Jr. of Halifax, two sisters, Arretta I. Lane and husband Watlee of Gladys and Helen I. Fallen and husband Dickie of Halifax, four brothers, Bentley “Boots” Irby and wife Shirley of Nathalie, Ronald “Duck” Irby and wife Irma of Chatham, Wayne “Red” Irby and wife Danett of Halifax and Jim Irby and wife Trisha of Dublin, two grandchildren, Joshua Scott Thomasson of Danville and Destiney Nicole Perkins of Halifax, two special nieces, Kimberley Fallen Bosiger and Karen Fallen Crews, both of whom always called her “Granny.” She was preceded in death by two brothers, Rosser and Pete Irby, her step-mother, Evelyn Irby and a special friend, Bill Robertson.

A graveside service for Mrs. Perkins will be held on Tuesday, April 27 at 2 p.m. at Halifax Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jack Stewart officiating. Visitation will be at Powell Funeral Home on Monday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. and at other times at her home.
