Obituaries

Virginia Bohannon Bailey

Virginia Bohannon Bailey of Virgilina, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013 at the age of 99. She was born in Virgilina on June 1, 1913 to the late Dr. Alvah Parrish Bohannon Sr. and the late Annie Crowell Bohannon and was married to the late Francis M. Bailey. Mrs. Bailey was a graduate of Averett College and taught school in Virgilina. She was a member of the Christian Church in Virgilina where she served as organist for approximately 50 years.

Survivors include six nieces and two nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca B. McKinney and two brothers, Alvah Parrish Bohannon Jr. and James H. Bohannon.

Graveside services were held on Sunday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m. in Virgilina Cemetery with Rev. Norman Talley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Virgilina Fire Dept., PO Box 266, Virgilina, VA 24598.
