Virginia Ellen Francis Butler

Virginia Ellen Francis Butler, 93, of Halifax, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 at Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born in Halifax County on Oct. 14, 1919, daughter of the late Eugene A. (Eutie) Francis and Mary Ellen (Molly) Rutledge Francis. She was married to the late John Henry Butler, attended Revelation Baptist Church and was a member of Fork Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Raymond Davis Butler and his wife Terry of South Boston; grandchildren, Karen Butler, Ray Butler and wife Jamie, Nicholas Butler; step-grandchildren, Mary Beth Cannon and husband John, Jennifer Forbes and husband Dickee, Amy Barker and husband Craig; three great-grandchildren, ten step-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by six sisters, seven brothers and a daughter-in-law, Joy Brogden Butler.

A funeral was held Saturday, Jan. 26, at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Coghill and Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery, Scottsburg.
