Walter Beverly Edmonds Sr., 80, of Halifax died on Monday, Feb. 19, 2018 at Sentara Halifax Regional. He was born in Halifax County on Feb. 9, 1938, a son of the late Willie Edmonds and Ida Bell Marable Edmonds Haskins. He was married to Florine C. Edmonds and was a member of New Arbor Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Edmonds is survived by three daughters, Ella M. Pannell and Jacqueline E. Chandler, both of Halifax and Venus F. Gorham of South Boston; one sister, Nancy Fallen of Goldsboro, N.C.; two brothers-in-law, George T. Crews and wife Annette and Floyd Lawson, Sr.; three sisters-in-law, Marie Tucker, Marie Leigh and Classie Crews; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, Walter B. Edmonds Jr.

A funeral will be held Thursday, Feb. 22 at 11 a.m. at New Arbor Baptist Church with Rev. Nelson C. Stamps officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at his home, 1005 Pine Trail, Halifax.
