Walter David Conner, of Clarksville, died Thursday, May 3, 2018.

He was born Nov. 3, 1933 in Roanoke and was the son of Roy and Marie Conner. He was married to Linda Ann App Conner.

He was the long-time band director at Bluestone High School, before leaving that position to create Bluestone’s photojournalism program. He was also the school’s choir director. After retirement, he continued to teach band, photojournalism and yearbook at Oak Ridge Military Academy in Kernersville, N.C.

He is survived by two sons, W. David Conner II, of South Boston, and Michael Leigh Conner, and his wife, Merlita, of Clarksville. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Tripp, James and Neal Conner of South Boston and Jessica Debsiw and her husband Reggie of Clarksville. Two great-grandchildren, Alexander and Ysebelle Debsiw, also survive.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was pre-deceased by his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Cope Conner.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 11 from 5:30-7:30 at Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Clarksville. No funeral is planned.
