Walter Jerome Miller

Walter Jerome Miller of Suitland, Md., formerly of Halifax County died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Washington, DC at the age of 65. Born in Halifax County on Dec. 12, 1946 to the late John Anthony Miller Jr. and Arlene Majors Miller, he was married to the late Sharon Terry Miller and was a member of Berry Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Miller was a Vietnam Army veteran.

Mr. Miller is survived by three sons, Gary Carrington and his wife, Samantha of Fayetteville, N.C,. DeShaye Terry and his wife, Cassandra of Riverside, Calif., and Andre’ Miller and his wife, Cutina of Woodbridge, a sister, Queen M. Davis of Lanham, Md., two brothers, John A Miller and his wife, Evelyn and Kenneth Hodges and his wife, Mary, all of South Boston, eight grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Arcilous Miller.

A funeral will be held Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. at Berry Hill Baptist Church with Bishop John A. Miller III officiating. Burial will follow in the Miller Family cemetery with military rites by American legion Post 99.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday and at all other times at the home of John and Evelyn Miller, 1081 River Road, South Boston.

Funeral arrangements are by Jeffress Funeral Home, North Main Street, South Boston, VA.
