Waverly Nathaniel Jennings, 82, of Lower Liberty Road, Nathalie died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 at Sentara Woodview. He was born in Halifax County on Sept. 24, 1935, son of the late Austin Jennings and Nettie Leigh Jennings. He was married to Evelyn Jackson Jennings and was a member of Sunflower Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Jennings is survived by six children, James Jennings (Linda) of South Boston, Robert Jennings and Evelyn Renee Armstrong (Tony), all of Maryland, Farrell Jennings (Debra) and Greg Jennings (Natisha), all of Clover and Jessica Jennings of Nathalie; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Charlie Jennings, James Edward Jennings, Robert Louis Jennings (Claire) and Linwood Barksdale and two sisters, Lizzie Wade and Queen Wimbush, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by three siblings, Annie Marshall, Florine Robertson and Willie Roy Jennings.

A funeral will be held Thursday, Nov. 9, at noon at Sunflower Baptist Church with Rev. William E. Mosby Jr. officiating and Rev. Robert M. Tucker Jr. eulogist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at his home, 1154 Lower Liberty Road, Nathalie.
