Wayne Evans Holt

Wayne Evans Holt, 73, of Halifax, died Sunday, June 30, 2019. He was born in Halifax County, on Feb. 1, 1946, son of the late Harry Thomas Holt and the late Lilly Belle Walker Holt. He was married Katherine Robertson Holt, was a member of Winn’s Creek Baptist church where he served as a deacon.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Holt is survived by his children, Thomas Smith of Nathalie, Kenneth Wayne Smith and wife Teresa of Scottsburg, Tracey Clay Garland and husband James of Scottsburg; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn Irby of Windfall and Evelyn Rowland of Nathalie; host of nieces and nephews; close friends, Harold Young, Doug Francis, J.W. Sanders, Mike Johnston, Ricky Elliott and Leo Heile; and beloved companion, Reba.

He was preceded in death by siblings, Dorothy H. Waller, Nell Holt Stevens, Freddie E. Holt and Lacy Thomas Holt.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, July 2, at 2 p.m. at Winn’s Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Kopco and Rev. Elwood Seamster officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to service at the church.
