Wesley O. Newbill

Wesley O. Newbill Jr., 83, of South Boston died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011 at his home. He was born in Halifax County on Oct. 24, 1927, a son of the late Wesley Oliver Newbill Sr. and Nettie Seay Newbill. He was married to Inez Anderson “Tootie” Newbill, was a member of Dan River Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Dianne Newbill Floyd and husband Joe of South Boston; one son, Ricky Wesley Newbill of South Boston; four grandchildren, Kimberly Crawford and husband Greg, Kevin Floyd and wife Christi, Karen Howerton and husband Brandon, Bryan Newbill; three great-grandchildren, Elyse Crawford, Luke Floyd and Cadence Howerton; a close friend, Teresa Newbill. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Maggie Walker and Eunice Newbill and one brother, Dotson Newbill.

A funeral was held Tuesday at Dan River Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Gibson officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
