Wesley Ray Gosney

Wesley Ray Gosney of 5228 Bill Tuck Highway, South Boston, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 at the age of 67. He was born on June 17, 1946 to the late Irvin Alvis Gosney and the late Catherine Dunn Gosney.

He was assistant manager of Riverdale Auto Parts and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Eden, N.C. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Roxboro, N.C., and was a member of the Hospital “Breakfast Club”.

Mr. Gosney is survived by two brothers, Wallace B. Gosney and his wife, Faye; and Willard Alvis Gosney, one sister, Linda G. Lloyd and her husband, Allen; five nieces and nephews, Jason Lloyd, Kevin Gosney, Kristin Gosney, Cindy Fisher and Michael Gosney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dunn Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Will Gosney; two brothers, Wayland Lloyd Gosney and Willard Gosney; a niece, Tammy Seate; and a great nephew, Thomas Seate III.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 2 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Norman Talley and Rev. Dan Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Aarons Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home Monday from 7-8:30 p.m., and at other times at the home of Allen and Linda Lloyd, 3028 E. Hyco Rd., South Boston.

The family requests that anyone wishing to give memorials please consider Halifax Regional Hospice, 2204 Wilborn Ave., South Boston, VA 24592 or your local volunteer fire department.
