William James Torian

William James Torian, 60, of Alderson Avenue, South Boston, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 at his home. He was born in Halifax County on Aug. 28, 1952, a son of Mary Morris Torian and John Lonnie Torian. He received his formal education in the public schools of Newark, N.J.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by four sisters, Edith Barksdale of St. Louis, Mo., Shelia Torian and Najah Wakleehan, both of South Boston, Hallie Torian of East Orange, N.J., two brothers, John Torian and wife Virginia of South Boston and Thomas Torian of Irvington, N.J., other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held Thursday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home with Rev. Samuel Barksdale and Rev. George Gorman officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1911 Alderson Avenue, South Boston. Public viewing one hour prior to service.
