William Lewis Paxton Sr.

William Lewis “Billy” Paxton Sr., 71, of Scottsburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017. He was born in Covington on Aug. 25, 1946, son of the late William Lewis Paxton and Margaret Childress Paxton Williams and stepfather, Flave Alexander Williams. He was married to the late Shirley Martin Paxton and was a member of Clover Church of God of Prophecy.

Mr. Paxton is survived by one son, William Lewis Paxton Jr. (Elizabeth) of Scottsburg; stepsister, Patsy Owen (Hagood) of Halifax; stepbrothers, Johnnie Mack Williams (Carrie) of Scottsburg, Flave “Rooster” Williams (Nedra) of Tampa, FL and one grandson, Andrew Lewis Paxton.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Charlotte Paxton.

A funeral was held Sunday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. at Clover Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Barbara Gravely officiating. Burial followed in Clover Cemetery. The family received friends at the church prior to service.
