William Venable Jr.

William Venable Jr., 62, of Philadelphia, and formerly of Halifax, died on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017. He was the son of the late William Venable and Annie Palmer Venable, was educated in the public schools of Halifax County and graduated from Halifax County High School. He continued his education at Virginia State University where he graduated with a degree in business administration.

William had a successful career in the financial services industry. He owned his own mortgage company before continuing to hold positions as a licensed stockbroker. He also held positions with various banks and mortgage companies, including being branch manager for Full Spectrum Lending. He advanced in his career to mortgage underwriting as a senior mortgage underwriter and worked with Wells Fargo Bank. His final position was with Citizens Bank.

William is survived by his wife Angela of Philadelphia, three sisters, Shelia Venable of Charlotte, N.C., Sandra Grady (John) of Takoma Park, Md., and Jacqueline Venable of Alexandria. He also leaves a special niece, Lauren Dew (Colin) of Washington, DC, a nephew, Shaun Grady of Sacramento, Calif., and one aunt, Naomi Venable of New York City, seven great nieces and nephews and a host of dear cousins, in-laws and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, William and Annie Venable, his beloved niece, Kristen Grady, preceded him in death.

A funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at Saint Paul Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the service on Saturday.
