Willie Cyrus Hill Sr.

Willie Cyrus Hill Sr. (affectionately known as “Willie Sims”) of Gloucester, formerly of Halifax County, died on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at his residence at the age of 81. He was born in Halifax County on Nov. 16, 1931, son of the late Joe Hill and Rosa Belle Moore Hill. He was married to Betty Tidwell Hill and was formerly employed by the County of Halifax.

Mr. Hill is survived by his wife of 23 years, Betty T. Hill; four children, Willie Hill Jr. and fiancé Jennea Green, Edmond Malechek Jr. and wife Betsy, Heather Adams and husband Dantavius, and Crystal Malechek and fiancé, Richard Patrick; 11 grandchildren, including the devoted Devin Adams; one great-grandchild; three sisters: Virginia Womack, Janie Hill and Dorothy Ballard, all of Trenton, NJ; two brothers, Edward Hill and Leroy Hill, both of Trenton, N.J., and a host of nieces, nephews including the devoted Katrina Harris, Mary A. Harris, Ras T. Harris and Charlie W. Harris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Anna Belle Harris, Mildred Jackson and Thelma McWorther; and three brothers, Robert, David and Junior Hill.

A funeral will be held Friday, March 29 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant C.M.E. Church with Rev. Evon Bush officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family is receiving friends at 1130 Wilson Memorial Trail, Vernon Hill. In lieu of flower arrangements, please consider memorial donations to the family c/o Jeffress Funeral Home, 2000 N. Main Street, South Boston..
