Willie Donald Harris, 88, of First Street, South Boston, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019 at the Woodview Nursing Home.

He was born in Halifax County on July 18, 1931, son of the late Harris Spraggins and Mattie Harris and was married to Christine Harris. He was a member of Owens Grove Baptist Church and was employed by J.P. Stevens, Inc. for over 30 years.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Harris is survived by five sons, Robert D. Harris (Charlotte) of Midlothian, Oveda “VC” Harris, Kenneth Harris, Garland Harris and Jesse Harris, all of South Boston; one daughter, Sandra Harris of Clarksville; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by three sons, Bobby Dean Harris, Lanell Harris and Tex Harris.

A funeral will be held Saturday, Aug. 10, at 2 p.m. at Owens Grove Baptist Church with Rev. John Leigh officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 9 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home and other times at 1017 First Street, South Boston.

Memorials may be directed in care of the family at Jeffress Funeral Home.
