On those rare days when yours truly is in full possession of his wits, it’s not unprecedented to see the words “always happy to be wrong” inserted into this column.

High price to pay

As matters stood at the time of this writing, on Wednesday afternoon, America was left to ponder the possibility that a credibly-accused assaulter of women whose own claims to integrity have been undone by an incessant need to lie about his past could become the next justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.

Surely a few more episodes lie ahead in the soap opera no one asked for — All My Children (Enrolled at Georgetown Prep) — but by now it’s clear to see that Brett Kavanaugh is a very ethically-challenged judge and human being.
