The Clarksville Chamber of Commerce is so thankful to the Town of Clarksville and all those who are involved in making the Virginia Lake Festival happen each year.
Seven months of planning and organizing go into making this event a fun-filled day for everyone. And most of all, the biggest FREE event in Mecklenburg County!
There are so many people to thank that made Lakefest happen, starting with Brenda Farris, who organizes the hot air balloon show each year. She has been doing this for 21 years and does an awesome job! To all the balloonists who came and spent the weekend here to delight us all. To the host families that helped house and feed them and to the Chasers! Thank you!
To Randy Gupton, who helps with the awesome display of fireworks, the Coast Guard and VDOT! Kudos!
A huge THANK YOU goes out to all our sponsors of LAKEFEST! We couldn’t do it without them! HP, Clarksville Ruritans, Wells Fargo, Benchmark Community Bank, Halifax Regional Health Systems, Lake Country Satellite, Signs and Designs, The Mecklenburg Sun, The News Progress, Best Western on the Lake, CMH, Lake Motel and Efficiencies, Lakes Media, Century 21 on the Lake, Simmons and Associates Realty, Tri-Country Gastroenterology, Town of Clarksville, Carter Bank and Trust, Citizens Community Bank, Clarksville Marina, Mecklenburg Electric, Virginia Avenue Mall, Delta Power, Matthews Sanitation, N Touch Wireless, Circle K, Southside Marine and Auto, Clarksville Auto Supply and Bruce Woener.
We offer another big thank you to the Lakefest committee members: Tara Murphy, Wendy Field, Lori Hamlet, Jeff Jones, Barbara Martin, Terry Denton, Kathy Barretta.
Another huge thank you to Clarksville merchants and to the work of the town crew — Richard Elliott, Walter Terry, David Jones, Ike and many more — for the festival preparations, from mowing to delivering the sand to the clean up! Awesome job! Thank you to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and the Clarksville Police Department, Clarksville Fire Department and Rescue Squad for being there to keep us safe! You all are livesavers!
Thank you to the many volunteers that helped the Chamber on Lakefest weekend: Barbara Mason, Stephanie Bailey, Jeanie Williams, Mike Wagstaff, Janet Cameron, Janet Moncure, Annette Church, Brian Morris, Diane Reeves, Mary Reeves, Mr. and Mrs. Harvell, Charlie Simmons, Kathy Whitten, Chris Bailey, Josh Glasscock, Mary Cherry, Sherry and Mary Guerrant, Kayla Royster, Jeff Jones and his daughter, Charles Davidson, Mike Lyons and JC Eldreth, and Betty DeOrnellas.
Thank you to the Clarksville Community Player for their help with the Lakefest Idol competition and to all the contestants, and to Destiny Townes, the winner this year. You did a fabulous job Friday night at Opening Ceremonies!
To JB and The Get Down Browns, and to Improbable Cause for rocking our stage this year.
As you see, it takes a huge amount of people to make Lakefest happen! We hope you all enjoyed the 36th annual Virginia Lake Festival (Lakefest) this year! Thank you for your support!
