Tennis hopes to keep winning tradition

Seriously? / September 28, 2017

Dear Viewpoint:

For many years as I drive through the Town of Halifax it is a pleasure to glance over at our historical Courthouse with the Doric columns, the Confederate soldier keeping watch, old Glory waving in the breeze, and the well manicured green behind the brick wall.

I own an eighteenth century home and am well aware of the necessity of upkeep and maintenance.

In a recent addition of our local paper was a drawing of the new proposed courthouse with a glass appendage protruding from the left side. My thoughts were “They cannot be serious.” I am not an architect, but I know ugly when I see it!

How about maintenance of this glass room? Glass is subject to break, crack, chip, mildew, not to mention cleaning. Imagine how this room would look in ten years. And the public is supposed to pay $17 million for this.

The people in charge need to rethink this design.

Respectfully submitted,
J. Bernard Tate
