Vote for Tracy / November 04, 2013

Dear Viewpoint:

I want to encourage the citizens of Halifax to vote for their independent candidate, Tracy Quackenbush Martin, because she is the best candidate. Tracy knows the law and she is a highly skilled criminal trial attorney. Tracy is intelligent, she works hard, and she is a person of great integrity who would enforce the laws with equal fairness to all. These qualities are the only things that should matter in deciding who the next Commonwealth’s Attorney should be.

Former Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson stated, “…the citizen’s safety lies in the prosecutor who tempers zeal with human kindness, who seeks truth and not victims, who serves the law and not factional purposes, and who approaches his task with humility.” Without reservation I can assure the citizens of Halifax County that Tracy Quackenbush Martin embodies all of those characteristics.

I have known Tracy for years, and I can affirm to you that her behavior has not changed because she is running for office. She is the same in public as she is in private. I have never seen her put on airs or be anything but completely sincere. Tracy is a faithful wife, stepmother, and Christian. She is dedicated to this community. Her character is without question.

I know Tracy means it when she says she has come forward as a candidate only because there are problems that need to be resolved. We can all see that — all we need to do is read the papers. If you are satisfied with the amount of time it takes for cases to be resolved and if you are satisfied with the results you see in the paper, then vote for the other candidate because you will get more of the same.

If, however, you feel that Halifax County can do better and deserves better, I respectfully request that you cast your vote for Tracy Quackenbush Martin.

Sincerely, Joanna Sibley
