NASCAR names newest ‘Hall’ class

NASCAR announced Tuesday the 2012 class of inductees into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. The five-person class, which will be officially inducted in a ceremony during the weekend of Jan. 20, 2012 at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, N.C., consists of: Cale Yarborough, Darrell Waltrip, Dale Inman, Richie Evans and Glen Wood.

Park View High School snags $5,000 sports grant

For the second year in a row, a Mecklenburg County school has received a Responsible Sports $5,000 grant. Park View High School Principal Ben Taylor made the announcement Friday to teachers at the school before they left for summer break.
