South Hill Machine Pitch team takes the field

South Boston Dixie Youth hosted a four-team machine pitch tournament over the weekend at the Day Complex in South Boston. Two teams from South Boston, one from Cluster Springs and one from South Hill participated. Friday and Saturday, the teams competed in round robin fashion and on Sunday played a single elimination tournament with the team from Cluster Springs coming out on top. With the green-white-checker finish unfolding, Brian Pembelton tried as hard as possible to close the deal from the outside line at South Boston Speedway. However, Bobby McCarty had the necessary horsepower, and held off Pembelton to win the 104-lap feature for the Limited Sportsman drivers Friday night.
