The Southside Sportsmen Friends of the NRA hosted a fundraising banquet at the Arrowhead Gun Club on Sept. 11. The banquet was held on behalf of the NRA Foundation, a non-profit entity of the NRA for the purposes of promoting education, training, safety research and development in the shooting sports. One half of the proceeds from every banquet goes to over 170 such programs nationally. The other half of the money comes back to Virginia. This year a check in the amount of $2,510 was presented to the Freeland 4-H Shooting Club.
The Halifax County Middle School soccer team earned a significant road win Thursday.
The strong early season start continued Thursday night for the Halifax County High School varsity volleyball team.
