South Hill Angels on cusp of title

The South Hill All-Star Angels played last night in the championship round of the District 1 Dixie Softball tournament after compiling an undefeated record in four postseason games in Blackstone so far this week.

Diamond Fever wins Greensboro College Showcase

The Diamond Fever 18U softball team competed in the Greensboro College Showcase on June 19– 20 at Springwood Park in Burlington, N.C. The tournament began with four pool play games; Diamond Fever played three on Friday; Fever won their first game against SC Dixie Diamondbacks, 5-0; then faced Magic with a 5-5 tie; and finished the day with a 5-2 win over Carolina Attitude. Fever was back on Saturday for their last pool game against the Carolina Bombs, winning 12-2; and faced the Shockers on Saturday night in their first game of single elimination, winning 7-0. On Sunday, Fever would have to win four straight to bring home the championship. Fevers first game of the morning was against Carolina Cobras, with Fever pulling out the win 6-5 in extra innings. Then it was on to face Carolina Attitude for the second time of the weekend, with Fever taking the win again 7-6. With four teams left in the tournament, Fever pulled out the third win of the day against Backriver Surge 4-0 to advance to the final. The championship game put Fever against the Bombers, with Fever dominating in a 12-1 win to take home the title. Fever finished the weekend 8-0-1 and will travel back to Springwood Park in Burlington, N.C. on June 26– 27 for the IFA NC/VA State Championship.
