Legion baseball is enjoying a revival in South Boston. The Post 8 Junior Legion baseball program began yesterday, and the new baseball team has its home opener Wednesday at the Comet baseball field.

Green ninth in high jump at state meet

No Comets placed in the state Group AAA track meet this past weekend, although Comet David Greene managed to finish ninth in the high jump with an effort of 6-4. Greene was also 18th in the long jump at 21-06.75.

Lady Comets knocked out of NWR tournament

For the second year in a row, the HCHS softball program saw its season with a lopsided loss in the Northwest Region semifinals. Battlefield, which defeated the Comet girls in the regular season, eliminated the Comets one game short of a state tournament berth Thursday, handing Halifax a 10-1 defeat.
